Understand the why. Be intentional with the how.
I'm interested in understanding the person in front of me.
What are you experiencing?
How does your body function today?
What matters to you?
What can we build?
I'm a Registered Massage Therapist and strength coach, but my approach extends beyond any one discipline.
My work brings together manual therapy, movement, mobility, strength and education. The tools I use depend on the person, the situation and what we're trying to accomplish.
The important part is understanding why we're using them.
Sometimes hands-on treatment creates an opportunity for change. Sometimes we focus on movement or strength. Often, those things work together.
When we understand the why, we can be intentional with the how.
A few things I believe
Your body is adaptable.
The human body has an incredible ability to learn, respond and adapt throughout life.
Movement gives it experience. Load gives it a reason to adapt. Recovery gives it time to do so.
Pain deserves context.
Pain is a real experience influenced by many things.
Your history, activity, sleep, stress, previous experiences, physical capacity and the demands you're placing on your body can all contribute to the bigger picture.
Understanding that context helps us choose a useful direction.
Movement gives you options.
I value mobility, control and strength because they expand the options available to you.
The more capacity you build, the more you have to work with.
Treatment creates an opportunity.
Hands-on treatment can help you feel better, access movement and create an opportunity for change.
Then we decide what to do with that opportunity.
Strength and capacity matter.
Your body gets better at what it regularly experiences.
Progressively developing movement, strength and physical capacity gives your body opportunities to learn and adapt.
Recovery matters.
Building capacity also means creating space for recovery.
Rest, sleep, time, connection and taking care of yourself are meaningful parts of health.
Your well-being deserves your time.
Context matters.
Bodies are complex. People are even more complex.
I value curiosity, honest conversations and being clear about what we understand while staying open to what we're still learning.
The bigger picture
HART MVMT grew from a simple idea:
Help people become more capable.
I want you to leave with more than an experience on a treatment table.
I want you to understand your body better.
To become curious about it.
To build trust in it.
To develop strength and physical capacity.
And to have practical tools you can carry into your own life.
Taking care of yourself is valuable in its own right.
When you invest in your health, that investment has a way of rippling outward — into your family, your work, your relationships and the people around you.
HART MVMT is a place to put some time back into yourself.

I believe people are capable of far more than they often give their bodies credit for.
That belief has shaped my career and, ultimately, HART MVMT.
I started in the fitness industry as a trainer and Medical Exercise Specialist. My early work was centred around exercise, strength and helping people build physical capacity.
Midway through that journey, I became a Registered Massage Therapist.
Hands-on therapy gave me another way to work with the body and changed how I thought about pain, movement and recovery. But I was always interested in how the pieces fit together.
Treatment could change how someone felt.
Then what?
That question became increasingly important to me.
I wanted to understand how we could take the opportunity created through treatment and actually build on it.
That led me deeper into Functional Range Systems, where I studied Functional Range Assessment, Functional Range Conditioning, Functional Range Release and eventually became an Internal Strength Model strength coach.
FRS gave me a more specific framework for thinking about joints, movement, strength and physical capacity. More importantly, it reinforced something that had become central to the way I work:
Be intentional.
Why are we assessing this?
Why are we treating this?
Why are we choosing this movement?
What capacity are we actually trying to build?
Today, my work brings those parts of my career together.
Manual therapy.
Movement.
Mobility.
Strength.
Education.
Each is a tool. The person in front of me determines how we use them.
I work with people living with persistent pain, people rebuilding after injury, people who train hard and want their bodies prepared for greater physical demands, and people who simply value feeling good, moving well and taking care of themselves.
Because taking care of yourself matters.
Getting stronger matters.
Making time for your health matters.
Build people up.
Help them become more capable.
Give them something they can carry forward.
Stay strong,
Devon
